Certification

Right now i just started working on preparing for the Excel Certification Exam. I am practicing on infosource right now. And later on in the week i am going to take the test and hopefully pass it.

what do ya think? how'd it go?

On Wednesday that we took the test, it was OK. There were some stuff that i didn't understands. But overall, the test was fine. On Friday, the test was kind of easy. It went by pretty fast to where i was able to finish it with ten minutes left. Both tests were easy at some point and hard at other points.

My goal is to increase my grades this semester. i want to get my grades to an 85% or higher. i will do this by completing all my assignments, following up with teachers about my grades, and doing extra credit assignments when i need to. i believe i can do this because i've done it before. i wanna do this for this semester.

Pre Test

I didn't know:

1.  How to display 2 different windows side by side so that I can be working with both of them. I did it by going to the View tab and under the window section i clicked on Arrange All
2. How to package the entire presentation to a folder on the network so the presentation can be given on another computer even if the other computer does NOT have powerpoint installed. I did it by clicking  the office button and clicked on publish and then clicked on copy to CD.

A way to get announcements out to the students would be to have a weekly newsletter because newsletters can just be handed out to students during their first period class about the activities going on that week such as Meetings, Sports, Practices, fundraisers,Contests, NHS, BPA, Birthdays, or anything going on that week can all fit in a newsletter and since its a weekly newsletter it'll be easier to fit everything into that newsletter. And if there is anything else that didn't make it onto the weekly newsletter is to be announced during school or before school. NEWSLETTERS!!

Who Won??

I think that it was a tie. Yeah both sides had different opinions. There are different reasons for each side wether or not they should be hired if they are smokers. it was a tie.. :))

Can an employer decide not to hire you if you are a smoker or you are obese?

 i think that it depends on the job occupation because if the job has a rule against smoking than they can decide not to hire you. Because maybe at a doctors office they can't hire you because there is no smoking at a doctors office. It depends..

And if they don't hire you if you are obese then maybe it also depends on the job occupation cause if you are a yoga instructor or an instructor of some sort they don't want someone who is obese to be training others because maybe they want someone the trainees can look up to. But they can't just not hire you because you are obese because maybe you are a very good hardworking person.

Problems i ran into yesterday...

The problems i ran into during yesterdays assignment were finding wether they were hiring because usually the businesses don't post anything up on the internet. They usually just put out signs outside of their business. :p

what can we learn from the city job fair?

what we can learn is to get businesses who actually want to hire because if we get businesses that do not want to hire then what would be the point of them coming to this job fair? we can also advertise correctly. As in make sure to tell the public where its at, when it is, and tell them what the purpose of the job fair is.

seating arrangements

i will benefit from this because I am able to work around other people and get help from a new perspective when i need it. The people around me will benefit from this because when they move they will be able to get help from other people other than the people who they've worked with for the first part of the school year.

3 Positive Characteristics

The 3 positive characteristics that would make me the best employee would be that when they tell me to do something, i won't give up right away i'll give it a few tries and if i can't do it then i'll ask for help.
Another positive thing is that i i can dress according to the dress code. Another thing is that i can be a good person when it comes to working with others.

The 3 negative characteristics would be that i can sometimes have an attitude. When i get angry or upset, its best not to talk to me because i'll just get even worse. Another thing is that I can sometimes do what i want because i always think that i can sometimes not listen cause i get bored of listening to people. And the last one is that i don't like to do more work than what i have to do.

what is BPA?

BPA (business professionals of america) is a program that teaches students how to be leaders and how to learn to be social with other people. =)

Event Evaluation

           Some things that were good during our career expo were that i saw some parents talking to some colleges. I also saw some parents trying to convince their kids to go up to businesses and talk to them. I also liked the way we treated the businesses as guests. I even got a comment on how good we treated our guests.
            Some bad things that i saw were that the businesses were leaving early. I also didn't like the way that the people that were participating in the career expo were on their cellular phones. I also didn't like how people didn't know what all the businesses were doing here at our school.
            Some things we could do differently next time is to advertise our career expo to our students more. Other things we could do differently is the way we put the tables and how we organize everything. We could maybe even put them in order by what the businesses do. Another thing is that we could've asked them to stay much longer?
             I suggest that next time we should tell more people about out whats going on that way they won't be asking the day of the event.m

why are we having such a hard time getting businesses to comit?

We are having a hard time for businesses to commit on coming to our career expo because, maybe the businesses think that the career expo is to hire students when in reality its to help students find a bright future. OR they don't like the way we present ourselves over the phone.
